A living practice held by earth, touch, and care.
At the heart of it all
ROOT & TIDE is a living practice –
A way of tending to what the earth offers
through hands that remember,
even when the mind does not.
I work with paper, mud, and resin –
materials that ask for touch, patience, and care.
Materials that soften with use and deepen with time.
Some pieces are born from play –
from curiosity, silliness, and the inner child
who learns by touching first
and understanding later.
Some pieces are born from weight –
from ancestry, gravity, and what is carried quietly
in the body, the breath, the bone.
Neither is more valid than the other.
Both belong here.
ROOT & TIDE exists at the meeting point
between softness and reverence,
between experimentation and restraint,
between what is imagined
and what is inherited.
I do not create to preserve the past
or to explain it.
I create to make space for experience –
for moments to settle,
for feeling to form,
for meaning to gather in its own time.
This work is not fast.
It is not loud.
It does not ask to be consumed or perfected.
It asks to be lived with.
ROOT & TIDE is how I stay close
to the earth,
to my inner child,
and to the lineage that lives in my hands.
It is how I remember
without needing the story.
